Ang Misyon Children’s Orchestra (AMCO) has evolved from being the Young Filipinos Orchestra (YFO), which was considered the apprentice level of Ang Misyon’s music programs. Through the years, these young scholars continue to hone their skills in playing musical instruments. They have performed as a full orchestra and experienced playing for different audiences as part of their periodical assessments. Most scholars from the Ang Misyon Children’s Orchestra move forward to play for the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (OFY).
In 2019, the AMCO scholars have played alongside the OFY during their first collaborative concert at Sun Life Amphitheater in Bonifacio Global City. Programs that support their musical development include an annual intensive Music Camp and workshops with visiting mentors from the Philippines and abroad. There are currently more than 60 members with promising talent and skill, with sections completing an orchestra line-up. Ang Misyon Children’s Orchestra stands out as a distinct children’s group in the country that can perform challenging pieces designed for children’s orchestras.
